No matter how successful they are, every tech platform has to evolve to stay relevant. With that in mind, the latest WhatsApp update turns its attention to group chat features this week.

The instant messaging service has enjoyed huge success with the way it facilitates conversations between more than two people.

Group chats have become insanely popular over the last few years, becoming the prime method of communication for many users.
So to hear that the set-up is changing might be a little troubling for some of us. However, we’ve had a look at the impending changes – set for a roll-out in the next few days – and it seems like the organisation have taken steps in the right direction:

Tell us a bit about yourselves…
At the moment, group chats are only distinguishable by their titles. They often get chopped and changed – usually depending on what antics certain members have been up to lately – and it can be hard to follow.

WhatsApp groups now come with a “group description” feature . It can be found by entering the chat and clicking on the title. From there, you can set up a little blurb about your group, and the people who are part of it.

You know that huge feeling of dread you get when you’ve got 500+ unread messages in the chat, and you’re name has been mentioned several times? Well, WhatsApp have now moved to make life a little easier for us all.

In the bottom right-hand corner – where the downwards arrow allows you to get to the bottom of a conversation – a little “@” symbol will begin to appear on top of it. Next time you’re playing catch up, you’ll be able to see what all the fuss is about.

Goodbye forever?
If you’re wanting to break ties with a group, this is an ideal feature. Group chats can often get out of hand with the sheer volume of messages. But annoyingly, leaving a group used to leave you open to being re-added soon afterwards.

This latest WhatsApp update has introduced a feature where you can block any potential reinvited, leaving behind all the chaos and drama.

Power to the admin
If you’re a group admin in any of your chats, congratulations: You just got a lot more powerful. Contacts who are in charge of the chat (usually the creator) now have the ability to limit members who can change profile images, group titles and descriptions.


Absolute power will corrupt absolutely. We’re sure that a lot of people are going to have fun wielding their newly-found axes this weekend. We’ll leave you to it.

They say that arguing about the big things is normal, and arguing about the smaller things can be dealt with. But if you argue with your partners about nothing, then you need to take an honest look at yourself.

This behaviour kills a relationship completely.

4. You tease him mercilessly about how he shows his feelings

If you tease your boyfriend like a school girl about how he shows his feelings towards you, he’s going to feel degraded. Not every man was born the world’s greatest lover, and by telling him he doesn’t do things the way you’d expect, you’re not going to help matters. Show him how you want him to act towards you in the right manner, he might change.

5. You refuse to confront your emotions

Relationships are never easy, they require hard work and honesty between partners.

If you find yourself ending relationships anyhow, ask yourself if that was really what you wanted to do. Women have a great role to play, and that is to be patient on their men. Your patience will make your relationship grow to something better.

Instructions on how to apply for STUDENT OFFER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SOMS)

Stage 1: Registration for unipromo account:

Register for an account in our system through the button (signup)

Note: To register for an account in the unipromo system you will need to supply the following details: First name, Surname, Student Admission number, University or College name, Email Address, Mobile Number, Attach student id image which is readable before sending (click Crop id Card to resize image before signup)

To finalize registration you will need to put in a password of your choice that you will use whenever you wish to log into the admission system.

If you are successfully registered, then the system will prompt you to login. Access to login will be given after system information verification process which is done within 5 minutes.

Note: at this stage. Your username is: your admission number/ phone number

Your Password is: the password you supplied

Stage 2: Open your account:

When you are successfully logged into your account you will find notification that your account is successfully activated (id is active)

Step 3: My Profile

To update your profile especially on id update go to Profile icon and click update Profile

Step 4: Vodacom UniOffer Qualification

Vodacom Uni offer is granted to all current University students Recognized by TCU and NACTE, with valid college or university id.

Step 5: Vodacom UniOffer Subscription

Vodacom UniOffer Subscription is done once per every week, depending on the registration rate, so you are advised to dial *149*42# after one week to check if you are already connected.
