We are looking to appoint a Coordinator- IT to positively impact The School of St Jude’s IT Systems in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting To: Head of IT
Key Responsibilities
- Learning the new web school management system from the developers and pushing training to our staff. The main systems the candidate will be working with:
- iSAMS
- REDcap DB
- TASS
- Spicework
- Diagnosing and patching bugs that users find in our web based systems
- Scheduling regular meetings with Academics Heads and Business staff to get feedback about potential improvements and requirements from the system and work with the developers to meet those requirements.
- Assisting both academic and business staff with the creation of reports and ensuring that they are correct and have been sent by systems with no errors or ommissions.
- Building new features to be included in all web systems that you will be dealing with.
- Writing and publishing an extension to address user’s needs
- Submitting pull requests and collaborating with the web systems of core teams.
- Writing and debugging PHP and/or Javascript, either in standalone scripts or as part of CMS modules/plugins.
- Liaising with database consultants to ensure any problems are solved in a timely manner.
- Organizing training with users to ensure they are using the school systems in the best possible way.
- Coordinating all the sent support tickets requests by ensuring that the tickets has been received and sorted out in a timely manner
- Monitoring the School’s Moshono Helpdesk systems.
Other Duties
- Participate in House Checks as requested by Community Relations team.
- Participate and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as all School Celebration Days throughout the year.
- Participate in student selection process, in particular working after hours on rest days and public holidays up to 20 Saturdays per annum.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Head of Section, Manager and Founder.
Qualification, Skills, Attributes and Competence:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Be skilled in composing SQL queries- the candidate with SQL knowledge who has some experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) would be ideal.
- Advanced computer skills with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, MS Access and Outlook
- Be comfortable using basic spreadsheet functions to manipulate data
- Have experience working with Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, and/or School web based systems.
- Have experience using Git and/or Drush.
- Have experience using Javascript libraries such as jQuery, AngularJS, and Underscore/Lodash.
- Be skilled in writing CSS.
- Personable, easy going and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills in English and Swahili (written and verbal).
- An energetic and friendly attitude with the ability to be flexible, patient,
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours.
- Confidence to clearly articulate your professional opinion.
- Patience and sensitivity to work with multiple users with varying technical skills and needs.
- Honest and be able to maintain confidentiality regarding the School Information
